Stevington Windmill at sunset

Stevington Windmill at sunset on Tuesday, 7 february 2012

/ My Blog / Best Served Cold /

Just down the road from us is the only complete windmill left in the UK. Apparently still in use and regularly turned, it's a delightful part of the local country walk we take the dog to.

Foggy sunrise on the A600, Shefford, Bedfordshire

Foggy sunrise on the A600, Shefford, Bedfordshire on Friday, 28 october 2011

I drive past this field on the way to work every morning and have been trying to wait until the sheep have been at the right end of the field for a misty morning shot.

The sheep have gone now, so I thought I'd stop anyway and take a nice shot of the sun burning off the morning mist.

Sofia tram

Sofia tram on Monday, 26 september 2011

One of the more endearing features of Sofia were the trams. Like a lot of Bulgarian public transport, some trams were brand new and some were left overs from the communist era with old men turning steel control handles and wheels. (Czech Tatra T4D's)
For just one Lv you could travel the length of the city, but it was an extra Leva for your backpack :)

Girl in train window

Girl in train window on Thursday, 29 september 2011

/ My Blog / Best Served Cold /

On the train between Plovdiv and Burgas we travelled on this rickety old train with dirty windows; not the worst train we travelled on in Bulgaria I might add.

As we travelled through the countryside we zipped past hundreds of abandoned buildings and bits of infrastructure. We're still not entirely sure what it was all used for in the past, but there's a lot of it...

Fiddling with my camera on Christmas day after a few too many glasses of wine! I found these shots rather interesting, getting the camera in shot and trying to get myself out of it :)

Forget Your Past

Forget Your Past on Wednesday, 5 october 2011

Blazoned above the entrance to the locked and long since abandoned Buzludzha monument is the message "Forget Your Past". Either side of the doors hang most of the letters from verses of “The International” and “The Worker’s March” moulded in concrete, some are skewed and some have been stolen.

Around to the right hand side of the locked, strong metal doors is broken window which we used to get in and take a look around.
