Inside the church the walls and ceilings were adorned with some strange frescoes. During the 20th Century the church had fallen in into dissrepair and was reconstructed, during this time the interior was painted by artist Teofan Sokerov, who depicted important events in Bulgarian history in a modernist style.
The church has never been reconsecrated as a result, but they were pretty interesting to study.
