Situated on the Andaka river valley stands a functioning, orthodox monastery. Founded in the 12th century, it was twice burnt down by the Ottoman’s and rebuilt, which is an all too common story.
Recently, there has been a new recruit in the monks ranks, which is a rare event, and we saw the young monk watering flowers in the grounds.
